Following the practice during the past few years, the Compliance Assistance Programme (CAP) in West Asia of the UN Environment Law Division’s OzoneAction in accordance with its approved 2019 work plans to organize in partnership with UNIDO, the Fourth Regional Technical Forum and round table for the foam sector in the region on sustainable alternatives for the PU and XPS uses, at the margins of Dubai Big5 Building Exhibition and under the patronage of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment
The forum is intended to facilitate the sharing of experiences between the key players in the foam sector in West Asia to ensure that WA countries experience a seamless transition to the new climate and ozone-friendly technologies with minimal disruptions and without distracting them from reaching their existing targets for HCFC phase-out and to reduce the growth of HFCs, thereby reducing future costs to both the Multilateral Fund and the environment.
The Forum on 23 Nov. will inform the regional industry and related chemicals suppliers and Technology providers about recent developments and share experiences from the already implemented phase out projects. The forum will then be followed by a round-table meeting for PU industry and governments on 24 Nov. to provide a platform for regular communication and coordination on the regional technical and policy challenges and best approaches to overcome them in order to achieve the agreed targets under the MP.
It is part of the Regional Network service that OzonAction's Compliance Assistance Programme (CAP) provides to Article 5 (developing) countries as part its role as an Implementing Agency of the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol.
