The Anglophone African Network of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)’s Law Division of OzonAction Programme is organizing Regional Training Workshop for Female RAC Technicians funded by the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol. This Workshop, which is being organized as part of UNEP’s 2023 CAP work programme under the Montreal Protocol’s Multilateral Fund, is in line with decision 84/92 of the Executive Committee, and is intended to promote gender mainstreaming in the RAC sector, raise awareness on latest refrigeration and air-conditioning technology developments, conduct hands-on training in the RAC sector and facilitate training and sharing of experiences between the female RAC technicians in the Anglophone African Network.
The meeting will provide an interactive forum for female RAC technicians to exchange experiences, develop skills, share knowledge/ideas with their counterparts from across the region, and build capacities of female RAC technicians to enable transitioning towards low-GWP technologies. The meeting is expected to generate a set of concrete actions to be implemented during 2023 and 2024 based on the discussions and information exchanged.
Accordingly, United Nations Environment Programme’s OzonAction Compliance Assistance Programme has structured the Training Workshop to ensure they address the most urgent and important emerging issues being faced by Anglophone African Countries and to ensure that the Workshop address the current and forthcoming compliance needs both towards Montreal Protocol control measures and MLF funded projects.
