This meeting is part of the activities of UNEP OzonAction's Regional Montreal Protocol Network for Europe and Central Asia (ECA network). There will be simultaneous interpretation in English – Russian will be provided.
Besides the invited experts, participants include the Montreal Protocol experts from ECA countries, bilateral partners, partner agencies, secretariats and interested colleagues / experts from other regions.
Following UNEP OzonAction’s welcome and brief overview of HFC policy measures in ECA network countries, Mr. Janusz Kozakiewicz from Łukasiewicz Industrial Chemistry Institute, Poland, will explain the background of the HFC quota system in the European Union and lessons learned. Ms. Annie Gabriel from the Ozone and Climate Protection Section, Australia, will share Australia's experience in the HFC quota distribution system and the practice of assigning and calculating quotas in Australia. Finally, Mr. Gerald Mutisya from the Ozone Secretariat will demonstrate the mixtures / blends tool that enables countries to calculate the amounts of controlled substances, mixtures and blends in CO2-equivalent tonnes.
